Scotland, Inner Hebrides - 1587 Sorcha's husband is easily the meanest cur alive. He blamed her for every misfortune that befell his clan since he took her to wife four years past. And now the bastard is determined to kill her. If she were half the witch he accused her of being, then she might possess the power to save herself, but Da had ousted her grandmum from the clan before she taught Sorcha the Pagan ways. She is certain of only one thing - if she lives long enough to become a widow, she will never take another husband.

Keiran, the Falconer of Barra, knew he and Sorcha were worlds apart in station - he, the son of a crofter, and she, the eldest daughter of the chieftain - but he'd spent the past seven years of his life trying to change his stars. Everything he'd done had been for her. He'd fought and killed for the clan and learned the Pagan ways, for her. And now that he'd saved her life and took her pain away, the foolish wench accused him of doing it all for the chieftainship.

Will Keiran's gentle touch crush the last of her resistance? Or will Sorcha's husband hunt her down and kill her before she discovers the depth of Keiran's love?

It is what it is.....and it is a 20 minute short story. I don't see anywhere in the description where it says that, and I assume in hindsight that 50 KB is a small download. Needs to be made clearer Would not have purchased if I had known....lots to choose from on here. Reviews all gave five stars....wish I had actually read them, but I hate spoilers so I rarely do. As far as the story goes, it is written well and touches all the major points that a full length romance would have....basically it's more like a detailed plot outline. All the structure/ bones of a good story. If you know you're going to get a short story and enjoy things that are short enough to read on the bus or on your lunch break, you will probably enjoy this.

His Magick Touch (Audible Audio Edition) Kimberly Killion The Killion Group Books Reviews

excellent reading story line; enjoyable characterization; I enjoyed this kindle book very much and would recommend it to any reader.
As far as a story, it was fine. However, there was no mention anywhere that this was so short. I wouldn't even call it a novella, it's a short-short story and as such is not worth the price.
While this was a pleasant read, it was incredibly short and I presumed by the 99 cent price that it was the same as several other books I have purchased but it is definitely not. I must agree with the other reviewer who said that it really should be specified that this is a short story.
Nice adventure Good read
Usually when you read a novella or short story, you're left with the feeling that the plot wasn't fully developed, or the characters were one dimensional. Not so here! Kimberly Killion manages to write a story packed with depth, history and emotion. It's truly like reading a full, single title. This Scottish novella has everything a reader of romance will love; honorable characters, a suspenseful plot and even a little paranormal thrown in for fun. If you like Scottish romances, this is a must!
Before someone else mentions it, I do realise that this is only a $0.99 book, so expectations can't be too amazingly high. Still, I've bought other $0.99 books on kindle and was satisfied with them.

The beginning of the story was set up VERY well. We are given a good villian to provide danger for our two main characters, the lead woman is introduced very well, and she has realistic emotional scars and trust issues for our lead man to face, and our lead man is introduced in a way that makes him almost immediately likeable.

And then we miss the rest of the plot. With the set up there should have been an interesting story, with the heroes preparing for the inevitable confrontation with villian and the two leads getting closer together as the lead woman heals from her emotional scars. Instead we get about a page of summary that is basically Yeah, our hero has taken care of everything. Oh, and our heroine has gotten over her issues. I'm not even exagerrating. What should have been the main part of the story happens practically offscreen so that it can go ahead and get to the sex scene. From this point on I was so irritated by the story skipping what should have been the good parts that the rest just annoyed me.

I guess the sex scene is okay, but since their romance went from 'introduction of conflict' to 'we're together now' within a couple of pages there isn't any kind of emotional investment. Then is the confrontation with the villian which happens immediately after, as we wouldn't want actual plot development. I'm not going back and counting pages but I'm pretty sure that the resolution of the final conflict and what should have been the climax didn't last as long as the sex scene. It feels rushed and I didn't really care as I missed any kind of buildup.

I got this because I really like fantasy romances. I wouldn't have been as annoyed, but the first chapter really raised my hopes for a character driven story with some magic. We don't get to experience any character development and the fantasy elements might as well have been left out. The male lead is built up in that first chapter as a cool magical warrior, but I don't remember him even using magic (or even proving himself as a warrior). Frankly, everything after that first introductory chapter is severely dissapointing. The author proved that she culd write with that first chapter, but it's like she didn't feel like bothering with the rest of it. If you want a story, rather than a single sex scene, I suggest you keep looking.
Sorcha can't stand her husband, and she's suffered his cruelty during the years they've been married. Now he's publicly accused her of being a witch, blaming his ill health, and every other bad thing that has befallen his clan on her. He beats her, then kicks her over the side of the cliff into the ocean.

Kieran, the Falconer of Barra, knew their stations were too different, and has used his time apart from her to make something of himself. Through his falcon's eyes, he sees his beloved Sorcha fall, and races to rescue her. When he finally reaches her, he manages swim to shore, saving Sorcha. Will he now have the time to court her and cement their love before her ruthless husband manages to kill them both?

This romance is short and sweet, but manages to cover all the bases rather well. Just wish it could have been a bit longer. Ms. Killion is one of my favorite authors, and she doesn't disappoint here. Highly recommended!
